“The imagery presented is a metaphor for the importance of visual language. The artist creates his own visual vernacular, but not with a verbal or written voice. The voice of the artist expresses a visual language that he creates using his hands, much like the mouth creates a verbal language. Replacing the mouth of the artist with fingers emphasizes the autonomy of visual language.
The theory of visual language, like philosophy is an intangible concept. Intangible concepts take on a tangibility when portrayed with the weight of concrete imagery. To emphasize the solidity, a form should be given the illusion of weight and space. Weight and space are best explored through a sense of realism in line and form. Juxtapositions or groupings of unrelated forms, remind the senses that the imagery is exploring theoretical subject matter. ”
